It is with excitement that we can report the season has officially kicked off at Eagle Pointe Lodge. All our staff arrived in late April to begin preparing the lodge after a long winter away from the beautiful North Coast. After a mild winter, the lodge remains in good shape and we made a few upgrades to the main lodge this spring with new furnitures, lighting and accessories in the bedrooms.

40 lb chinook salmon caught May 15
Fishing started off a bit slow compared to what we have seen in the past for the early season. That being said, there was a beautiful 40 lb. chinook caught on the first trip by one lucky angler. As we progressed toward the end of May, consistant daily results were evident on the dock with plenty of springs averaging 15-20 lbs. Most of the salmon fishing takes place close to the lodge at this time of year.

Halibut report
The reef has been producing lots of halibut already when the boats were out there on the calmer days. If the weather is rough, there are plenty of local spots that our guides know to anchor up for some early season halibut.
New limits set by fisheries
The halibut size limits are set to one a day, either 1 under 85 cms (up to 2 per trip) or 1 over 85 cms up to 126 cms for trip limit.

Fishing picks up …..
As we roll further into the season, the salmon fishing will continue to pick up steam as the main runs of chinook will be feeding in our waters on their way back to their native streams.
We are looking forward to greeting each and every guest. The experience starts with the Helijet ride into the lodge, then days on the water and finishing up with 5-star meals is all part of our inclusive package. We hope to see you soon.
Tight lines,
Jonathan Beaty
